That is, the surgeon will be the principal investigator of the product through the developmental process, as well as the primary advocate within the scientific and medical professions with presentations of their work at peer group meetings, in order to substantiate the practicality, effectiveness, and safety of their product idea, thereby lending credibility to the commercial value of the product. Product Development Process At BE-ST, our engineers think creatively and act practically. They provide technical skills in a broad range of engineering disciplines.  Multifunctional teams are assigned early in a program and stay with the project into production. This ensures better designs and faster results. BE-ST has developed a systematic approach to product development that ensures a successful outcome. We separate a development program into three distinct steps. In Step 1 we brainstorm, generate concepts and fabricate working proof-of-principle prototypes. In Step 2 we complete the design for manufacturability and fabricate multiple devices for animal or clinical trials. In Step 3 we define and procure final tooling, develop and conduct all the product and process validations, and release the product to manufacturing.
